Over the past decade, we’ve seen the rise of superheroes in pop-culture. Through the growth of Marvel studios and the revival of DC Comics, we’ve seen people in the U.S and across the globe gravitate towards these fictional heroes who have revolutionized our culture. The kids growing up in this decade often look up to these heroes and aspire to be like them. But the truth is that they can be like them. They can grow up to one day save and impact lives. While there are many ways to do so, one of the easiest ways to be a hero is by signing up to be an organ donor. Yes, it’s not as glamorous as Iron Man or King T’Challa but it is a role that can truly make a difference in our society. One donor can save 8 lives with their organs and heal dozens with their tissue. And it takes just minutes to sign up and that’s it. That’s all the work that you have to do. That isn’t to say that more work can’t be done. You can spread the word, you can encourage and help others to sign up, and keep yourself and your organs in the best shape. The possibilities are limitless as to how one can be a hero and how they can impact the world around them. But Michiganders should see the 2600 people on the waiting list and realize that one simple way to be a hero is to take the two minutes and sign up at bit.ly/gbhosa
